Agroecology Day 2026
From Niche to Norm: Agroforestry and Perennials for Resilient Food Futures
The event will be held on site, with the option to join online for the first half of the day.
Overview
This year’s Agroecology Day explores how agroforestry and perennial cropping systems can move from experimental niches into mainstream agricultural practice. We will highlight opportunities and limits of integrating trees, shrubs and long-lived crops into food production — from policy pathways and farm-level management to market and social transformations that make these systems viable at scale.
Presentations will situate agroforestry within Swedish conditions and policy, share lessons from urban agroforestry practices that have supported community resilience during wartime Ukraine, and showcase transformative efforts to make perennial grains, nuts and other agroforestry elements an integral part of the food landscape.
